Back in the marshes

The final day of the photography trip took us back out into the marshes before sunrise. We were watching a group of 'gardiens' on horseback, once again demonstrating skill and finesse as they herded the cattle from one spot to another.
We all commented on how calm this process was. No chasing or yelling. Just steady manoeuvres with the horses, interspersed with calls to one animal or another in the herd of cattle - the riders knew them all by name.
For anyone wondering, there were also plenty of mosquitoes. Our various and mostly unsuccessful attempts to keep them at bay became a running joke during the workshop.
My few phone photos were taken well after sunrise. So this isn't a great representation of what we saw. With luck, the camera images will do it justice.
Later we shared a final lunch together and said our goodbyes. Patrick - our B & B host in the village of St Laurent d'Aigouze - gave me a lift to the nearest railway station, Lunel.
From there, a sleek and spotless regional train whisked me to Nimes, a 17 minute journey. Home tomorrow.
