Class 3 diesel D2023 and single coach

The Railway’s first diesel gala for many a year was completed without a hitch over three days. The home fleet of Class 2, 3 and 14 was supplemented by three visiting locos, a class 17, class 27 and the mighty class 37 “Heavy Tractor”

Drive a diesel for a tenner gave people the chance to drive the class 2 up and down No 1 siding whole the other locos performed various trips including a shuttle to Rolvenden in the charge of the class 3, a trip to Wittersham and back and a trip to Northiam and back as well as full line trips to Bodiam.

A film on day at the Tenterden signal box where I had a trainee who handled the intensive timetable and extensive standing with aplomb. I was reduced to a watching brief.

Into the heady mix of diesels was also thrown the Sunday Lunch Pullman in the charge of the only steam locomotive today, Swiftsure.

The extras show the other locos, firstly the steamer and Class 2 going back to Rolvenden light engine at the end of the day. The class 14, class 17, class 20 and finally the class 37
