Isla de Ometepe, Nicaragua

Ometepe has two volcanos, Concepcion and Madera. The island sits in Lake Nicaragua which is about the same size as Lake Titicaca in Peru.

We’re based at Playa Santa Domingo on the east of the island. We walked the length of the beach to reach the next villages. It was way further than ‘mr google’ said but fortunately a passing tuk tuk came to our rescue! We enjoyed lunch, mango smoothies and local coffee at Cafe Campestre in Balgue - it’s a farm to table fresh organic cafe.

On the way back we were entertained by a troop of very cute looking capuchin monkeys.
