Busy Bee

After a couple of days of sitting around not doing much I took a chance on the showery weather forecast and headed over to the National Trust's Hatchlands estate. I only discovered Little Wix Woods and the wonderful bluebell displays there a few years ago, but have tried to visit every year since.

Despite it being early in the bluebell season, the woodland floor was a veritable sea of blue, The cool, showery weather meant the sweet smells were a bit lacking, though the woodchip paths smelled wonderful after the rain and hail showers which accompanied part of my trip round. They certainly did not inhibit this bee which was diligently working its way from bloom to bloom , and if you look large you can see the pollen collected on its legs.
