All In Vein For Lines On The Leaves

I would love to say today's image is a representation of our garden's lush, verdant and exotic plantscape (our horticultural vibe is much more brambles, nettles and weeds) but it's actually an illustration from an old magazine that I came across shot through the lines of our Acapulco garden chair, which is sadly not currently ensconced on a Mexican beach but sitting adjacent to our crooked whirligig washing line.
You know what's coming next don't you - yep, some plant vein based facts for your 'enjoyment'! Within each leaf the vascular tissue forms veins. The arrangement of veins in a leaf is called the venation pattern. There are three types of venation pattern:

Reticulate - where the veins form a network like structure

Parallel - where the veins arise from the leaf's mid rib and run parallel to each other

Furcate - where the veins are arranged in a forked manner

So I'm just hoping today's blip hasn't been all in vein! :-)
