Genocide woods???

We decided not to go to Sherwood and then on to Greenwoods bonsai as neither of fancied a 100 mile round trip.

Someone in the hotel had said there was a lovely woods less than 5 miles from the hotel so we decided to go there.
She called it genocide woods but it turns out to be Grenoside ( less fatal! )

So nice to only drive for 9 minutes. We were surprised to see how high up we were as we drove there.. a wide panorama below us, with a straight horizon . We expected it to be quiet but the small car park was full . I drove round twice  before we found a spot, squeezing between rocks. Obviously a popular place, but the woods are huge and we only passed 3 people on the whole walk.
I'd downloaded the map on my phone to ensure we wouldnt get lost ( that happened once and a tale for another day but it's a case of never again.)

We had a lovely leisurely stroll and Fletch loved it. ( blip showing him doing a rolly polie) He did remarkably well as we were out for a long time and the circular route we chose ended up with a long climb. I think Fletch did better than me!
Back to the car and as there was a cold wind blowing we decided to have our lunch in the car.
Worth a visit again as the woods cover a huge area to explore.

Just as well we didnt go home today. Both the A65 and A59 have been completely closed for hours.
