The grassy knoll

Our pre breakfast stroll .. me and Fletch.
The sun was shining but my app said it was 3 degrees and in the shady areas there was frost in the grass!  That was a surprise. I dont think we had frost at home at all over winter but we live by the sea and here it is several feet above sealevel.
But my down jacket kept me warm and the sunshine helped too.

We have enjoyed our stay. A lovely relaxing place.

After a hearty  leisurely breakfast we packed the car. First priority was the bonsaiA call into the garage to top up fuel although it wasnt necessary this journey. Another bonus of this hotel is it's a good hour nearer to home.

I checked Google maps to see if the A65 was still closed. It wasnt , although the A59 was and we set off. The hours journey on the M1 and then A1 wasnt busy and the drive across the Yorkshire Dale's was lovely The sun was shining and it was delightful to see the fresh green leaves and so much pink blossom.

The plan was to stop at Twinlocks and have a nice walk along the canal. But as we reached it , it began to rain and it was quite icy. We did have a short walk as all 3 of us needed to stretch our legs but it wasnt very pleasant. Another picnic lunch in the car.!
A quick pop in to the Garden centre to get a pot and feet for the 2 pots we bought there last month and on through the rain which got very heavy all the way home.

But it has been a very pleasant break. We plan to return there.
