Mr Robin

Another grand day out starting with a hearty breakfast at the Archers cafe, just up the road from our caravan site. Then back to Lancaster. A short walk into the town via the canal. Sad not to see much wildlife apart from a Swan nesting and her husband preening nearby. Mr & Mrs Mallard and a seagull. Once in the town centre the Judges' Lodgings Museum we'd planned to visit was closed and the Maritime Museum too, should have looked them up first, tut, tut. So we spent the afternoon in the wonderful Williamson Park Gardens: home to the iconic Ashton Memorial, Mr Robin and 54 acres of beautiful parkland with enchanting woodland walks and breathtaking views away to the Fylde Coast, Morecambe Bay and the Lake District Fells.

In extras: The Ashton Memorial (A folly built between 1907 and 1909 by the millionaire industrialist Lord Ashton in memory of his second wife Jessy, at a cost of £87,000.00) and some of the lovely trees and blossom in the park.

Karen was on dinner duty this evening. Gorgeous mixed fish chowder and some more of her delicious rhubarb with a very nice topping and Greek yoghurt. I'm certainly feeling the effects of all this walking. A cool start to the day but it warmed up nicely in the afternoon.
