Corinth canal

Set off today at 8.30 to head for Ancient Corinth, stopping on the way for a quick visit to the Corinth canal, photo opportunity! All the material they dug out of the earth making the canal was just dumped close,by so there is a very lumpy hilly area just close by. Having gone over the canal,we were in the Peloponnes no longer the mainland.

Getting to Ancient Corinth took some doing as t finding he coach park proved difficult! However we did arrive and went straight to the museum to look at the artefacts. It was a centre of healing and there were surgical instruments and effigies that let the doctors know what was amiss! In the excavations they also found a pediment which showed three menorah and an inscription indicating that there was a synagogue there which Paul would have visited.and also Christian symbols on plaques. Having been in the museum we went onto the site which was extensive but we didn’t have much time to take it in as we had to get to lunch.

After lunch we went to epidaurus to see the amphitheatre and experience the acoustics. On the way back we passed over the Corinth canal again and stopped at cenchrae where Paul set sail from Corinth,

Gala dinner this evening as we are leaving tomorrow. It seems to have flown by and today we had our first warm sunny day. It has been a joy spending time with all these various people, all so very different.
