The Great Escape

This afternoon, the miscreant Jack Russell known as Shadow look herself out for walkies. She had already been for an early morning stroll in the proper sense but I suspect had gotten a whiff of food in the near distance.

She has had a secret escape route for the last few months but has mostly behaved, the horrid weather providing no motivation to find out where from.

Anyway, she was missing in action for an uncharacteristic amount of time mid afternoon meaning that your Gal & her two dahlings had to form a search party of three to try and find her.

There is a small valley that runs from behind & to the side of the houses here, bordered on the other side by a motorway embankment. I used to play down there as a pre-teen but it has long overgrown now and a lot of the old paths have disappeared.

It was whilst scuttling under a low tree that I spotted tracks, but not those of the lesser spotted Jack Russell. These were from the even more reclusive Roe Deer. We haven't seen any for a few years but it's nice to know they are around and hopefully thriving :-)

Anyway, both the younger members of the search party went to regroup and found the little 'you know what' waiting for them outside our front door. Eldest later helped me find the gap in the fencing and close it off with some heavy gauge mesh. Shadow didn't look too pleased which hopefully means she cannot escape until she finds a Plan B ;-D
