1946 family portrait

This afternoon Mummy hazelh asked me to find a photograph of her grandfather because she couldn't remember him. Here he is at the centre of a family group portrait. This was taken in 1946 in the garden of the house that his parents-in-law built for him and their daughter in the 1920s.  Photographed are:

Back row:
William (Bill), Joan, Harry, and John

Middle row:
Margaret with baby Alistair, Margaret's mother, John (Jack), Mary Ellen (Nellie), and Olive (Bobby)

Front row:
Marianne (Mummy hazelh), Christopher, Valerie, and John

Jack and Nellie are Mummy hazelh's grandparents. Their three sons are John, Bill, and Harry.

John is married to Bobby and their children are Marianne (Mummy hazelh), Valerie and John.

Bill is married to Margaret and their children are Christopher and Alistair.

Harry is married to Joan.

Jack and Nellie had two further grandchildren. They were both born over a decade later and thus do not feature here. Uncle Bill worked in Iran after World War II so I guess that this picture was taken on one of his rare visits home.

I have endured another day of intense pain. Apart from going through old photographs with Mummy hazelh, I have darned my navy blue jumper, written a letter to Jackie, and made the tomato sauce for tonight's home-made pizzas.

Exercise today: none.
