A view from Jeanneb

Purple

A gloriously warm day today, far too warm in church despite only wearing a 3/4 sleeve dress.

Walking home I stopped to photograph this lovely deep purple lilac now in bloom half way down our drive. It’s not ours but Bluebell loves climbing  it and scratching the branches.
Many years ago there was a pale lilac one in the borders between us and next door but a very heavy April snow brought it down together with the fences to both adjoining properties. The fences weren’t replaced by mutual agreement.

We accidentally brought a white lilac from our last house and it grew and flowered for years in the back garden. It succumbed a couple of years ago when it just died mysteriously together with a well established Weiglia and next doors Rowan - something in the soil?

The other purples I’ve put together is the Honesty
that has now established itself from some seeds kindly sent to me by blipper Skyegirl a few years ago and the growing Alliums  with the purple Susan magnolia still flowering in the background.

Got a load of towels out and dry, yes on a Sunday, and have now brought them in as Chris is cutting the grass again.
Bank holiday Monday tomorrow not sure if the weather will last so better make the most of today.
