Harvard House

The 4th July is celebrated by our cousins across the sea when they ceased to become yet another colony of the British Empire and took off on their own; I suspect they've been regretting it ever since ;-)

The tenuous link between Stratford upon Avon and the USA is Harvard House on High Street. Gifts from the Harvard family in 1600 and something helped to set up Harvard University in Massachusetts. Apparently John Harvard's grandfather knew Shakespeare, no doubt drinking partners in the Garrick next door (a bit like Roz and I, Abbot Ale all round!). So the Shakespeare Trust has taken over custodianship of the house and today threw the doors open to all and sundry for free.

Later I travelled over to Lickey to see my friend John and we went out for a very satisfying curry
