The Food Hub

We spent a very nice day with our friends who live in Derby, Liz and Genny. The original plan was to have a picnic at Calk Abbey, a National Trust property about half way between us and them, but due to inclement weather we decided to have lunch somewhere drier.

The Food Hub is an extremely good (and very reasonable) café attached to Broomfield Hall which is part of Derby College. All the food is sourced locally and there is a farm shop attached to the café. See Food Hub Link.

I had a very acceptable Spinach and Tomato quiche with peppers and red onions, served with wedge potatoes, mixed roast vegetables and cabbage followed by Strawberry and Apple pie with ice cream; all totally delicious.

Afterwards it was back to theirs for coffee in the conservatory (listening to the rain on the roof).

Home then later to watch the recording of the Murray / Ferrer match, unfortunately curtailed because - rant time - the BBC have this awful habit of showing part of a match, then switching it to another channel or, worse still, making it only available on the red button. Regardless of what I do or plan with my recordings, I have never, ever been able to sit down to a recorded tennis match without missing the second half of the game. And this particular match was a cracker!
