700 years old?

These are Vaccary walls and are probably medieval in origin.  They are large, irregular slabs of stone erected as field enclosures associated with the vaccary system of cattle farming. Vaccaries were small scale commercial cattle farms in parts of Lancashire in the 14th Century.
