Jings Crivens Help Ma Boab!

And there we were, just finished eating our first-bbq-of-the-year meal cooked by Alois (was it hot today or what), when I unsociably checked the BBC news app, oh, Northern Lights across the uk, ach, we never see them from here, ok check aurora apps, ooh, red all the way down to Liverpool, go outside expecting to be disappointed, sky is normal to the north, hmmm, what's that to the south... hmmm... cloud... take a photo, OMG it is, hello!

So we all hung about in the garden at just after 11pm for about an hour, it  pretty much ran east to west, kept changing but not that you could see it  changing, looked light spotlights shining from a central point, diagonally left and right. Around midnight it edged to the front of the house to the Pentlands, bottom right, but generally ran east to west.

That was quite spectacular and something I'd never thought we'd see given Edinburgh is to the north. We saw a smidge of it when in Iceland a year ago, but nothing like this. Feels like I should tick something off now, although quite happy to see it again!
