Melee of flora

A wonderful hot summer's day! Visited friends this afternoon and had a relaxing time in their garden catching up on news. They are looking forward to their granddaughter and her parents arriving from Abu Dhabi where it is now 39C and where they live an air conditioned existence hardly ever going out for long in the open air.

The boys and K drove down to West Bay this evening with their swimming gear! But will they dare swim as the water will be chilly!

I had an interesting and frustrating day yesterday, driving to Bruton to meet up with an old flatmate of mine from Kent and her husband and some other people at a pub where the landlord is from Beluchistan. He had prepared a banquet of Iranian food for seven, but only R and I turned up. We waited over an hour and a half and after R had telephoned round to invite people to a free meal without much success, we decided to make a start on this feast for seven! Suddenly the landlord shouted out that they had arrived and in walked T and G and their two Jack Russells. Their satnav had taken them right off course and they hadn't got their mobile phone with them! R had missed the message that the others couldn't come after all and so we had a sumptuous meal with doggy bags to take home!

N and I finished the feast this evening!

These are flowers growing down the lane into the farmyard.
