Grumpy Old Man

Goodbye Engelland!

Sunday morning - a little late with my Saturday Blip owing to unfamiliar laptop difficulties!

We left Crooklands and drove the short distance to Sizergh Castle, an NT property. They have a large fern collection there which I like to see.

Then on to Heysham where we took our place in the ferry queue and had a picnic lunch in the car. We waited a very long time for the ship to be unloaded - not much fun as it was pretty hot. We eventually got on board and found seats in the forward lounge. It was a long journey, more than three and a half hours, but there's an open deck up top facing rearwards and this is my Blip today - not quite 'The Leaving of Liverpool' but the leaving of  Heysham anyway!

An interesting journey, skirting an immense area of wind turbines, and we finally docked at Douglas just after six. A quick visit to Tesco and then we found our way down to our holiday home just beyond Colby.

Quote of the Day: '“As yet, the wind is an untamed, and unharnessed force; and quite possibly one of the greatest discoveries hereafter to be made, will be the taming, and harnessing of the wind.” - Abraham Lincoln.
