The Pink beach

Well that’s what we call it but it’s actually Acheninver Beach and was our last port of call on today’s morning walk.

Very warm again today which was a bit of a surprise as after last nights storm we managed a further walk to the Achnahaird (our) beach and all was calm and still but a bit fresher. As soon as we got back in the house it started to rain again and rained all evening. Woke to lovely sunshine and the sound of the cuckoo! So near when I went out to put my boots on but couldn’t see it.
No need to go far again today. Through Achiltibuie and Polglass to park under the looming Ben More Coigach ( my son in law runs up this!) not for us!

We did some of the Culnacraig or Postie walk. Walking along above the Minch with views over the Summer Isles. We aimed to get to the bench and sit and watch for the Loch Seaforth to pass on it’s way from Ullapool to Stornaway, Isle of Lewis.
We saw it pass before we got to the bench and when we did get there someone else was sitting on it ( grrr - which is what their dog did when it saw us!)
They did move on before long and we sat a while before returning, I like the little white houses and gorse in Culnacraig both of which I’ve blipped before, but I don’t like the 2 mile walk back on the road.
Heard a cuckoo again and it flew past us into some bushes. I have photographed it here before on the overhead wires but not today.

Took the slight detour to this beach and then walked up past the former Youth Hostel to the car. It may not look much of a beach but the tide is in and shelving away under that gorgeous blue sea is pink sand. Eda loves it here. We came when Grace was pregnant with Jude and I just managed a picture of Eda running into the sea in her dress before she took off every stitch of clothing.
The island in the background is Tanera Mor, the largest of the Summer Isles which has recently been redeveloped we believe for the luxury market.  The company have bought up several properties in the area to house staff - wider view taken further back on the walk in the extra - can you spot the pink beach?

Still missing the Piping School cafe which closed some years ago we’d heard that a new place was open at Bardentarbet so we headed there. An old ice house and net shed for the salmon industry has been redeveloped by the Coigach Living Landscape scheme. We checked on line and it said it was open daily from 10.am to 4.00 pm. No one there and it looked as though further interior work was taking place. (Turns out we got the wrong place!)
So back to the wee hoose for coffee and lunch. Then a bit if sewing in the garden listening to the birds and insects.
Waited till the tide was fully out at 5.00 pm to walk back down to the beach this evening, lots more to walk on and explore.

So just over 6 miles today, 18,500 steps that’s enough!
