Look Out

The Malvern Hills

A day of walking the hills. B and I stepped out of the front garden and turned left down the steep hill to visit the Priory. From there we had an even longer walk uphill to St Anne’s Well, and then beyond that up to the ridge line. We then headed south to climb Worcestershire Beacon, the highest point of the Malverns. The views were quite spectacular, even given today’s heat haze (the temperatures feel more like summer). We arrived at the bar (sitting outside) for a late lunch with S and A. Then in the afternoon the four of us continued south up to the Iron Age hill fort of British Camp on Herefordshire Beacon, and then beyond before heading back. It’s been good to know I can still walk up a hill, I do need practice.
The image is looking towards Worcestershire Beacon, with British Camp in the distance. To the left Worcestershire framed by the Cotswold ridge and other hills. To the right the higher land of Herefordshire framed by the Black Mountains of Wales.
