Drink up Ye Cider

And here we have the village square with the White Horse Pub, the church opposite, where I am stood and the post office /shop next door.

It has been a beautiful day, weather wise, and the school had it's sports day.
The pub hasn't changed in many years. It has a separate dining room for the 'posh' people, a pool room and of course a bowling alley.

Everything centres around this square. At Christmas the Stogumber Nativity Play is quite famous. After a service in the church Mary and Joseph leave the church on a donkey and 'knock up' the Inn keeper who appears at the top window wearing a nightcap. Then they travel onto the barn around the corner where they inact the birth with wise men, sheep and of course shepherds while the crowds sing carols. It is very nice if you like that sort of tradition.

It has been a late night, now after midnight. The evening went well at Milverton Music Club. Amazing live music from all sorts of different genres. Our songs went down well and everyone seemed to enjoy the whole event. We now break for summer.

Thank you for dropping by and sampling life in Stogumber. Sleep well and may you be blessed with warm sunshine this weekend.
