Procession

A brilliant day at Holmfirth Festival of Folk!

Andrea and I spent most of the morning watching Morris dancing at various dance spots around the town. Lunch at Beatties with MrM before watching a bit more Morris dancing, and then the procession. Slubbing Billy's, the local North West Morris side, are in the main Blip. We followed the dancers into Victoria Park to watch the dance displays - no room at the front, so we climbed the steep grassy bank for a good, but distant, view. A little later MrM was performing with on the outdoor stage with 'Black Hill', so we walked down to watch them, and very good they were too.

When the band finished we helped MrM to take his gear back to the van, and we all piled in. Just time to go back home for a quick meal before heading back into town for the evening concert -  the Carrivick Sisters, followed by Rachael McShane and the Cartographers. Both acts were amazingly good - all very talented musicians.

Time for bed after that, after a very enjoyable - but tiring - day.

Took far too many photos during the day! Extras -
Leeds Morris Men dancing with the Fool (in top hat and tails).
High kicking Saddleworth Morris Men (their fabulous hats are decorated with fresh flowers).
Our view in Victoria Park.
Pecsaetan Morris, a women's Cotswold side based in Sheffield, performing in the park.
