I Was Fooled

I haven't spent much time taking pics today. When I snapped this I thought it was a bee. When I looked at it on screen I realised that it's a fly. I think it's a narcissus fly, a bumble bee mimic. There are numerous colour forms. The larvae develop in bulbs. They are thought to have been introduced to Britain from Europe in Victorian times. They used to be rare. 

I'm pleased that lots of buttercups are blooming in my uncut lawn.
