Garsington Studios

It was a joyous day today when we went for a sneak preview of Garsington Studios, which is not fully completed but is being very fully used.  We watched the 9 year olds from the Community Youth Opera rehearsing for their performances later in the season, and a rehearsal for Britton's Midsummer Night's Dream, followed by speeches, champagne, a recital by two young stars and lunch.

I have blipped GS before. The first time was in May 2022 when they were just starting to erect the steel structure (today's picture was taken from a balcony built on the front of the steel structure on the far left, looking at the left hand end of the little cottage).  In October 2022 they were starting to build the wooden roof structure.  In November 2023 the roof was tiled and they were starting to finish the building and do the landscaping. It's been a major effort and a huge fundraising challenge, but it's incredible what people with vision and belief can achieve!

Before we went there we popped into West Wycombe Village Hall for a fun cactus show (first extra).  MrHCB loves succulents.  Indeed we could have brought rather a lot of cacti and succulents of our own to the show!  Nevertheless we bought a small agave that had been separated from its impressive parent only yesterday (second extra).  It's come to a good home.
