Journey Through The Clouds

The Rocky Mountaineer departed Jasper at 08:30.
The Jasper-Vancouver route is known as the Journey Through The Clouds.
What a fabulous day we've had. Stunning scenery passing by as you sit in luxury in amazing carriages with wraparound overhead windows. There's also an open observation deck.
Highlights included passing Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies [albeit partially obscured by cloud - a apparently it only has 12 days a year of uninterrupted view]. Another was the Pyramid Falls.
Again today we saw a couple of black bears from the train; there were also some birds in the sky which someone claimed were bald eagles, although I wouldn't be certain of that.
We also passed a large patch of trees that burnt in a major forest fire in 2003 - you could still see the black trunks by the riverside.
Fabulous food, drink and service on-board too!
This first of a two day journey stops overnight in Kamloops.
