Icefields Parkway
This morning we headed up the Icefields Parkway, which is the 144-mile long road linking Banff and Jasper, passing through some stunning scenery. After a brief stop at Bow Lake (still frozen; I was standing on the ice taking this last Extra) the weather improved considerably (with occasional light snow flourishes) revealing the majestic scenery all around. A further short stop at Saskatchewan River Crossing.
Next up, one of the undoubted highlights of our trip.
We went on an Ice Explorer all-terrain Snocoach to the Athabasca Glacier, and the weather was just perfect! What an experience, to stand on the largest icefield in the Rockies. Fabulous beyond words.
We-re stopping overnight in Jasper; we were lucky enough to see a black bear by the roadside on our way here from the Icefield.
