Now, as I see it......

Thun on Thursday

Another wet and cloudy morning.  We had planned on getting the funicular up to Harder Kulm, a viewpoint above Interlaken, but we couldn't see it from the ground so wouldn't have been able to see anything from the top.  So instead, we caught a bus along the Thunersee, the lake west of Interlaken, to the next town, Thun.  Despite the weather it was nice to visit somewhere which had 'normal' shops rather than all the souvenir, sport and watch shops in Interlaken.

We made our way up to the Mediaeval castle built on a hill over the town.  All was well preserved and we were able to climb right up to the turrets at the top which gave us some great views across the town.  I've added an extra of a rather damp W with the castle above her head, showing the turrets at each corner.

This wooden bridge crossed the river in town; not as long and not as old as the one in Lucerne but impressive nonetheless.  We got the train back to Interlaken; a very comfortable double deck express.  The sun is finally out as I write this, but I think we will just enjoy it from the comfort of the hotel.
