Alone Tree

We have an abundance of trees here in Perth, i guess the one that stands out and quite alone for me would be the Moreton Bay Fig.
This one stands in Kings Park its long branches stretch across the road, there a grass tree to the right of it which is about 4ft high to give you an impression of the Moreton Bay's actual size.
The indigenous people of Australia used it for medicinal and everyday purposes long before the Europeans arrived and settled here.
The figs that constantly drop to the ground were crushed and eaten, not quite like the figs we buy, these have a distinct aroma, but they do contain calcium, potassium, and iron.
They used the inner bark to make a sturdy cloth bag as well as woven fish nets, and the branches were so big they would make waterproof dug out canoes..a pretty awesome tree.
