Unexpected

So, first full day in BCN.

The ecstasy due to being back has only just begun. "The Dudes," that's Matt, Shane, Kai, Nam and myself (because our room always smelled like dude) plus Dave head off into Barrio Gotico. Photos, photos, photos, because its good to be back and its one of my favorite places to do street photography. I'll make sure to upload all the good stuff somewhere soon.

Basically, I don't really want to recite our day, its better shown via photos. Let's just say we did a lot of walking through the streets, chilling at Port Vell, some shopping for H&M clothes (which were then forgotten in Santa Maria del Mar), ice cream, local tapas, beers and generally avoiding the masses of tourists in favor of more chilled out areas.
This absolutely paid off as we landed on a little square I'd never been to before, niched somewhere behind Santa Maria del Mar. It couldn't have been more idyllic. We walked through an archway where a guy was playing spanish acoustic guitar and straight onto a marriage. There was a fountain and trees raining yellow petals everywhere. The bride was just arriving and all the guests were fancily dressed up outside the church. We were all amazed by the scene, it couldn't have been more unexpected and beautiful. This is Shane taking some photos as the petals rain down.

What else? Yeah, we had dinner at a tapas place on Via Laietana, where we were also served some Martini Royale in ice shot glasses. Life is good.
After dinner, we headed to a gay pride parade that was happening at Placa d'Espanya. It looked quite impressive from the top of the Arenas. Didn't feel like I fit in there, but the DJ was certainly good and we redid the fist pumping dance a la liverpool. We didn't end up staying very long though. Saving up for nights later in the week!

peace
