One daze at a time...

There is a light at the end of the cubicle

The sun shone again today (sob).

It is now officially a heat wave.
The sun shone today. And this is the only ray I managed to grab (sob).

Hordes of overheating kids were discharged from white- hot cars on sun-kissed shores.
Plastic spades were rattled in plastic buckets.
Castles were built. And promptly destroyed.
Sun protection was applied in generous lashings by sweaty mums.
Toes were dipped in the sea. And remained attached.
Ankles followed. And their owners did not feel like they had been sown off with a blade of ice. It is even rumoured that testicles were immersed. And no screams of surprised pain ensued.
People swam today. As in swam rather than jump-in-shriek-run-back-out.
Bodies emerged from the sea that did not look like giant goose bumps on legs.

Gallons of melting ice-cream were licked off little fingers. Or just left stuck there. To attract the wasps.

A cruise ship even visited the bay. And Sardinia-seasoned tourists sizzled in the sun, complaining about the heat.
While a piper piped.
And collapsed. From dehydration.

The sun shone again today (holds head in hands and sobs).

And that's all I saw of it.
