The Jazz Man

About a dozen pole carvings by Bryan Carrick, liberated from baulks of local hardwood, decorate the streets of Moruya, south of Batemans Bay. "The Jazz Man", in Vulcan Street, is an image of John T. Fearley (1929-2003), founder of the Moruya Jazz Festival. It stands near the Monarch Hotel, venue of many of the main gigs during the festival, which is now a popular annual event. This year's event is on October 18-20.
