A Study in Blue

We've been waiting a good few days for this Sea Holly (Eryngeum) to come out. Had to compromise and use a small aperture in order to get the whole flower in, and thus also caught more of the background than I wanted. Hey Ho - you makes your decision and takes the consequences.

I tried some of the things I've been learning recently: tripod, timer, mirror lock up, with the Canon 100mm Macro that I'm liking so much. I got the macro lens especially for lichen and beetles, but it produces a portrait of a flower very nicely...
