A Knotty Problem

Like buses - suddenly they all come at once!

Nothing..... then come lunchtime I'd got a Small Tortoise, Large White, Skipper and this Six-spot Burnet plus numerous bees all round the lavender!

The knotty problem was amazing to look at...which was unravelling over the shots.

The main food plants of the caterpillars are trefoil and vetch of which there is loads here which contain cyanide derivatives. Passed on from the caterpillar these poisons deter predatory birds which learn to avoid moths as food.

Yet another eye appointment for Tilly today - not moving forward but there isn't really anywhere to go apart from an op. She was sooo good and well behaved today and it must have all hurt like hell!!
