Frosty Fern

I don't know what this fern is called, but it is common in gardens where it comes up of its own accord in damp places. Once established it can withstand a drought. In winter it dies down. I leave the dead fronds to protect the delicate centre buds.

This was a cold day. Although there was day-long sunshine and no wind the air temperature was still below zero at 11am, and the high was 4.5ºC.
