Driveway Rose #2

Quickie blip.

Suffering from the unusual heat last weekend, I didn't do anything I had planned, and ended up catching the final hour of the Wimbledon final live, where last year's Scottish loser became this year's British champion.

I did venture out to the top of the shared driveway to capture these vibrant roses, planted by a neighbour on our communal flower bed.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
João Gilberto, Astrud Gilberto, Stan Getz and Antonio Carlos Jobim - The Girl From Ipanema (1964)
The tall and tanned and young and lovely girl from Ipanema was born on this day in 1943. Heloísa Eneida Menezes Paes Pinto, a Carioca better known as Helô Pinheiro, is a Brazilian model and businesswoman who was just 17 when a stroll through the Ipanema district of Rio de Janeiro inspired this song. It was written in 1962, with music by Antônio Carlos Jobim, who had witnessed the memorable walk, and a lyric by Vinicius de Moraes. That same year it was recorded in Portuguese by Pery Ribeiro. English lyrics were written later by Norman Gimbel.
