Of rich and royal hue..

Oh flower of Scotland....

We had a super walk today around the Forvie nature reserve, where an abundance of wild flowers greeted us, including this superb thistle. Our visitors thoroughly enjoyed seeing some more of Aberdeenshire. It was quite misty when we set off from Collieston but by the time we returned from our walk the sun was out and the village was looking at its best. We had an excellent lunch in the community cafe which is run over the summer at the weekend by young volunteers, before moving on to Cruden Bay beach for a foray along the sands. Then a drive home the long way round via Peterhead, taking in the new prison, the Lido, the harbour, Buchanhaven and Inverugie, accompanied by a commentary from my hubby, sprinkled with
reminiscences of his childhood in the "bloo toon." All in all a fine Sunday outing!
