Town Gate

Haarlem is a authentic medieval town, so it had water and a wall protecting it.

The wall is long gone, but this town gate - poort in Dutch - is still around, reminding us of past times.

It's called the Amsterdamse Poort as it is the beginning of a straight road all the way to Amsterdam where the road ends at the Haarlemmer Poort.

Halfway in between is a little town called... you would guess it.... called Halfweg (Dutch for Half way ;-)
