Old gate

we've not had the sun and heat that the rest of the UK's been having. Yesterday I meant to go to Hoy, but it was too windy and wet.
Today I determined to go whatever the weather. It started wet, but no wind, and we hadsunshine pretty soon after the little community bus dropped me by Osmondwall. later. Here area couple more shots.
I walked a new route for me- around Cantick Head on South Walls, the southern part of Hoy, and along the south cliffs. There were a couple of porpoises about 30m off the cliff at the lighthouse, but I couldn't get a decent shot. Ditto for the puffins- plenty in the air and on the sea, but none posing for their portrait. I walked along past Misbister Geo, The Candle, the Hill of the White Hamars, The Axe, The Neive, The Knave, and The Clevies, which is by Skerp. The sun brought out the blue butterflies. They were like windblown fragments of sapphire.
