Victorian Ruin

I took a "little" detour on my way home from Mum's to Scotney Castle in Lamberhurst, Kent. The Castle is a 14th century moated building, Victorian mansion and 770 acre estate left to the National Trust by the last owners Christopher and Elizabeth Hussey.

The mansion , which is in the background, was commissioned by Edward Hussey, Christopher's Grandfather, and was partly built from stone taken from the old castle, leaving the romantic ruin you see today - the height of fashion at the time (1843), but would probably be frowned upon today.

The still moat water gives a wonderful reflection, and is very apt for HeartFreek's challenge for today
