The Edge of the Wold

Morning mist

Although we are nearly a month on now from the longest day, at 0615 the sun is already quite high. I have a feeling there might have been a good dawn this morning, if the sun peeked under the clouds and illuminated the mist: but it's too early for me. Still, at this time, there were enough breaks in the cloud for the sun to shaft through and light up the valley mist from above.

Today was the hottest day of the year in the south, it was hot enough up here for working in the office to be quite uncomfortable. Gus is feeling the heat in his big fur coat, a good reason for giving him his morning walk as early as possible. He shall have his evening run along the estuary shortly. He likes his routines, and we have been working on a new one that involves a lot of running round trees and joyful barking. He's as excited about it as he is about his sprint through the rabbit field. As I write this, he is lying at my feet with a hopeful look in his eye.
