16Days#13: Messing about on the water ...

So, an overnighter to Bath to finish off our holiday. This is a blip of some guys messing about in the very attractive river. I think they were Avon Fire and Rescue guys on training. Or cooling off in the intense heat. They didn't seem to be enjoying it much though ....

Easy journey down. Stopped briefly at the lovely Dyrham Park,  National Trust property with a wonderful view.

Nice little B&B - cool in the heat thank god.

Bath is like it always is - magnificent and dirty. Has always been like that in my experience. Best after 6pm when most of the day trippers have left. Strangely large number of bearded aged hippies.

Excellent meal at Demuths restaurant. We were unimpressed at first. They have a very small menu and one of the mains was off. But the whole thing was exceptional, the cauliflower panacotta just dripped with flavour, the broccoli was out of this world, the ewes cheese fritters so creamy ....

On which subject: Cookery school tomorrow!
