Day Four: Babarian Hordes

Today we joined the Barbarian hordes gawping in wonder at the ancient and modern art in the vast collection that is the Vatican museums. We took a break to wonder at the strange skies which were followed by a very welcome thunderstorm that relieved the oppressive heat. The scale of this place is truly awesome....after four and a half hours we thought we had covered every gallery only to be confronted by a whole set of Roman and Greek antiquity galleries on the way out. However we gave these a miss as we were well and truly satiated with our fill of magnificent art.

So after retiring to the apartment to rest our weary feet (the galleries in the museums stretch over 9 miles) we set of to fulfill a family holiday tradition....dinner in the local Hard Rock cafe (pus quite a few cocktails) followed by a walk to meet some more hordes of tourists admiring the Trevi fountain.
