Day Five: Tactics

A day of tactics in Rome designed to gain easy admittance without undue queuing in the unforgiving sun. This morning my youngest son and I set off early to avoid the queues at the Colliseum and Roman Forum (the others took it easy back in the apartment). The tactics worked...just a five minute queue to get it....amazing size to the place and quite sobering to realise it's stood for almost 2000 years.

Second set of tactics was to join the queue for St Peters late in the day, queue was long but moved quickly. Again well worth the wait as the scale of the basilica and the light were amazing (and not too spoiled by the barbarian hordes). The doors were a bit gruesome though. On the way out we spotted some of the Swiss Guard in their 'Sunday best'.
