Quod oculus meus videt

Dark Sky above our Windmill

Had wanted to do a star trail but was struggling with a moon that was causing too much light. I then struck on the idea of putting the camera on the balcony of the windmill which was fortunately opposite the position of the moon. The dark triangle you can see is the cap (roof) line of the windmill. It took an age to process and, as I found out in Yorkshire recently, there is precious little true night time in the summer. Light levels dipped to their lowest at about 1:30 am but rose quickly after that so by 3:00 am morning light was already visible.
