'School's out' school picnic

After a frustrating day waiting in for a BT engineer for my broadband we finally got out of the house, in time for school pick up! The tradition at school is on the last day to head for the Girl's school field (now a protected Village Green) and picnic. Last year we were sat in the rain, this year we were fighting for shade! It is lovely though, seeing all the kids playing together. My memory this year will be of Carys walking back across the field with her arm round M (a year 6 boy) while he had his arm casually draped round her shoulder. I did have a flash of what my teenage child will look like! M has known her since she was one as they shared a childminder, but there aren't many 11 year old boys who would be quite so nice to a 6 year old girl.

Kids home and in bed, one asleep and hubby home I headed back to school for a BBQ to say goodbye and good luck to one of Carys's favourite teachers as he heads across the town to be a head at a local junior school. He will be missed, but as he said a number of times, he looks forward to seeing Carys regularly on the sports field in the future.
