Uath Lochan

Another beautiful day today for the first training day and the juniors had several exercises to do which practised their 'toolbox' skills such as compass work and aiming off. They were also introduced to the skill of pacing and had the chance to compare their running performance along tracks and across terrain. The two fun exercises of the day were a star relay where each team had to move a cuddly animal of their choice around the course accurately in teams of three, and a fine navigation exercise with added distractions from the coaches! The latter was particularly fun with the coaches thinking up increasingly fiendish ways to distract the juniors from their navigation. I don't know who enjoyed that more!

In the morning the exercises took place in the forests around beautiful Uath Lochan which was like a millpond when we arrived.

I think there will be some very tired youngsters tonight!
