Sureil

After our rest day it was back on the bikes. Set off after breakfast and unfortunately had said to D that it was quite flat as I had cycled this part before and hadn't remembered any hills. I knew my memory was getting worse (as well as the fitness).

There were no long hills but it was constantly up and down. We cycled to Montbron (different spelling to the chateau of yesterday) and stopped for coffee and banana cake. Already it was getting hot. However we made good time cycling to the outskirts of Angouleme despite there being a motorway and several roundabouts there that weren't there the last time I had cycled it. Angouleme was very busy, so much so I had to walk pushing the bike some of the time. We eventually found our way through. Stopped for a cold drink and ice cream as the temperature according to the bike computer was into the 30s.

We eventually cycled to the campsite at Sureil. Next to the campsite there was a park beside the river and a band started playing. We decided it was only polite to go and listen to them and partake of an alcoholic refreshment at the bar. None of the photos of the band came out well but you can see the audience enjoying themselves. After cycling in that heat we were tired but the band played until 1am.
