Scoots, Shoots & Leaves

Rare moment

The toddlers had just returned from gleaning a big bag of pears from a vacant yard up the street. Laurie was processing the pears, cutting away the bad spots and slicing them up for pear sauce and snacks. They all sat together in the big chairs for quite some time before the inevitable moment of unhappiness caused a disruption. But meantime, they were happily watching, laughing, playing games with their hands and mouths, patiently waiting for nibbles of pears. I caught them in this very rare moment of silence. I'm not sure what I said or did to cause them all to look at me (I try never to pose them or tell them to look at me or smile), but I was pleased with the result.
