South Coast Scribblings

Passion flower

On an evening walk with hubby yesterday I spotted passion flowers growing up into a tree in the village and decided to pop back this afternoon to take a photo. Mum tried to grow some once and found they didn't do too well, but these are thriving. I shoved the camera up into the tree and pressed and this was the result (I wasn't tall enough to see what I was doing, so I think it worked out quite well!)

I wandered on round the village and through the graveyard and met a friend who is one of the church deacons at the Anglican church and another lady who lives in Holly Cottage (which I blipped before) and we had a bit of a chat - about village history and the fact that there is a submerged village a bit along the coast from here. The southern coastline has changed a lot over the years and goes in and out with storms etc. over the centuries. There's a myth that you can hear the church bells ringing on the submerged church when a storm is coming!

Went and did some shopping afterwards and bought a 50th birthday card for a chap who's having a party at church on Saturday evening which should be fun! He'll probably get a few the same if other people have bought theirs in the village too!!

Weather today is still hot and a bit humid, but cool when you catch the breeze. Fairly pleasant really, and we actually got some rain overnight and this morning! I'm fully expecting they will be announcing drought conditions before long though as there hasn't been that much! So we will have to try and get the Karcher out on Monday and get the patio and paving cleaned before it gets banned!!
