happy 40th

It's mum and dad's FORTIETH wedding anniversary today. Not bad, eh?

Baked them a French cake: moka aux amandes. It's a biscuit de savoie with coffee syrup poured on to the sponge and then filled and covered with coffee crème au beurre (basically buttercream with egg yolks whisked in to it!) and toasted almonds.

I think it went down well :)

Mum was playing music from the year they were married. Dad got mum a massive hibiscus plant for the garden.

Watered the potager this evening. It definitely needed it!
